The price is for one genuine brembo disc for DUCATI 748R/998R.

Compatibility: 2001-2002 748R, 2002-998R

This is a special disk with a deeper offset than the 996R (disk on the outside, aimed at cooling effect).
Other changes are that the floating pin fixing method has been changed from caulking to a regular circlip, and the floating spring has been changed from a diaphragm to a regular wave washer.
The inner part is machined like a racing disc, and the weight is even lighter at 1.34kg/disc compared to 1.4kg/disc for 996R.
*Same as for 996R, the specifications have been changed to the inner part of the press. It has the same specifications as the later 998R genuine disc.
Outer diameter 320mm, PCD80, center diameter 64, disc offset 15mm, thickness 4.5mm
Please note that this item cannot be bolted on for vehicles other than those listed above. The bottom case caliper mount must be shaved.
A new number is now available in Brembo's home country. Specifications are subject to change.
The inner has been changed to a press type similar to the 996R disc above, and the price is now as low as the 996R disc.

Why can't it be used with monoblock calipers? Is it related to the pad area?

We are talking about the 40mm pitch monoblock caliper of the 996, so I think there is a good chance that modern calipers and pads could clear the issue.
However, for racing use, we recommend a disc of 5.5mm or larger.
